How to analyze the types of damage and which items to choose? in General Discussion

I'm a little herald who wants to do his homework XD and better understand the types of damage to be able to itemize my OD according to the game. I am hooked with that reason for which I would appreciate any information on how to understand and itemize a character in general according to the type of damage. I have already reviewed some videos but they are very old.

Try lots of different shit.. don’t copy noob shit from casters or «pros». Find yourself what works best for you

one, dont listen to this leaf dude, he is confused. Pros play with certain items for a reason. I looked at your OD games and your biggest issues are 1. you should never need mana boots on OD treads is much better 2. if you go aether lens you would take a part your mana boots, 3. you never buy blink, its the best item to have to get close so you can astral then hammer. 4 you never buy bkb, you dont always need bkb, but it should be your 3rd item in 90% of your games. You should go boots, wand, meteor hammer, blink, bkb. pretty much every game. then maybe if there is heros that jump you like ursa, or slark go force, or buy a aghs to get 2 astrals to save yourself and your teamates. but again mana boots is a waste on your hero. You want hammer and blink as fast as possible to start killing and pushing towers.

OD is a hero that rarely buys defensive items according to damage type (i.e., pipe for magic, crimson guard for physical, aghanim raw HP for pure).

Usually you want to itemize according to the enemy line-up, not just for OD. Like KillStealKing mentioned, you kinda need force staff (in your team) against Ursa, Slark and Skywrath Mage; Aeon Disk against Techies and Faceless Void; Euls against Ursa and Troll; Magic Wand in lane against PA, Bristleback and Zeus, and so on. You will know "what a hero truly needs" for each game with time.

Edit: spamming OD won't help you to learn the game and itemization on the long run. You will keep buying the same core items (Meteor hammer, dagger, bkb, ...). Play multiple heroes and positions.
