Echo sabre is cheaper, provides mana regen, decent stats, and most importantly, instant two hits every 5 seconds - which also slows the enemy. You should almost always go for echo sabre early.

You'd only get SnY if you want the movespeed bonus.

I prefer echo, since you want to burst people down as fast as possible during your 2 second stun.

echo is infinitely better. when your ult is on and enemy team is kiting you, that extra hit (+ cleave) makes a huge difference.

not to mention you farm stacked ancients faster with mom leech.

It depends on rest of team. If they have good lockdown echo, if they don't and you're getting kited, s&y.

S&Y won't help with kiting. Dagger will.

It makes you faster and makes enemies slower, how's that not help?

i dont get the sy obsession on sven

echo feels bad now, it used to slow attack speed
it especially doesnt synergize with the MoM build while sny does
sny gives more total dps, and with Mom warcry and sny ur super fast
u can actually chase people with sny

I prefer sabre, makes more sense with how Sven functions and is cheaper to boot. You want to jump in and explode people as fast as possible not deal sustained dps. One thing I've also seen quite a bit of recently is just going straight dagger after mom and playing higher tempo and skipping sny/sabre in favour of big ticket items.

Sabre (farming + mana regen)
SnY (farming + fighting)

It just depends on how fast you farm and how you want to fight early on. Echo helps you clear waves in a fraction of a second than SnY but SnY gives you that beefy stats and attack speed wherein you get SnY pre-18 mins would make you so powerful. I prefer to go halberd in some cases because the item gives you so much for only 3.4k gold plus the disarm is good against right click heavy lineups.

Imo SnY is the item with mom build. Especially if you want more chasing power eg. Spinning juggernaut. Echo although very good, seems weaker and more kiteable. Depends on the game whether u need more burst like againt anti mage or more chasing enemies who lack bkb piercing spells.
