I believe he's basically trying to answer a commonly asked question so people can have a proper perspective. However, unless he's planning on doing the math for everyone it still won't answer the question.
My party ranked games I win about 67% of the time. I'm currently 3.9k how long will it take me to get 5k at roughly 7 party ranked games a week or 1 a day?
Solo queue i am currently 3k and win about 55% of the time at roughly 2 games a day since you did the math for me it seems I will achieve 4k solo in about 200 days.. lol
Yea just plug in your numbers to that formula and find the number of days and set your expectations.
Days needed = MMR GAP/ ((Win rate - Loss Rate) X games/day X 25).
^ 200 days isn't bad considering you only play 2 games/day.
lol just a couple hours ago I was trying to calculate how many days I need to get to 5k from 4k, with a 55-60% winrate, by playing 4 games a day on average. Magic.
^ not if your win rate is 50.05%, in which case you'll be playing this game through retirement.
realistically, only 5-15% of matches are not winnable under 6k due to any other fault other than your own (teammates feeding, enemy smurf, lag)
this number will only drop in higher than 6k+ mmr due to team play actually being mandatory, meaning that a loss can occur out of team mistakes that aren't intentional.
now, i haven't personally seen any boosters above 75% winrate while boosting in the 6-7k brackets, but there could be.
^ if you win all the "winnable" games under 6K, i.e. 85% of your games, you really deserve to be out of that bracket.
Those with 55-60% win rate have a lot of room to improve.
At the end of day, I'm okay with having a lower win rate if that allows me to play some "fun heroes" like Sandking than spamming the same boring pitlord every game for a 70-80% win rate.
i prefer playing boring pitlord every game in ranked to get 70-80 %wr.
why u play your fav hero(in my case is invoker) and get 50%wr when u can spam winning heroes??
u stop play or play unrank if u bored spamming hero
Every loss is avoidable.
If a 5k was playing instead of me he wud have won almost every game I lost given they knew the position.
My ranked Winrate is 60% and climbing. I want to reach 2k and think I can do it in the span of 2 weeks. How many games I need?
@idc mmr
Some people still want to have fun while trying to win
Some people simply play ranked to increase some number
Cookie are you ever re-releasing the RIKI MMR guide 1-5k ?
the people have spoken.
too bad cuki doesnt know how to roam anymore ayy lmao
just came here to say that
The key variables to gaining MMR are as follows:
1. Your win rate
is kinda wrong.
idk man...i just play everyday till i get 25 mmr...once i get it i stop playing ranked for the day and watch replays...i reaaaaaaaally hate losing what i just gained....works out wonders for me...no tilt and no playing with the same retard twice...overall very slow progress but its guaranteed success... i get around a guaranteed 200 mmr per week which is 1000 mmr every month and a week ...not impressive but i get really scared of losing when i play too much in one day..the more games i play in a day the higher the chance i lose...i think of dota in ranked like a mountain...the higher you climb the harder it becomes so you have to rest during your climb...if you get way too tired you just slip and falll...im not talking like im a 5k player who wouldnt get tired from destroying 2k players...im talking like im a 2k player who wants to climb to 3k this month and is so far having no issues with that using his way... maybe when im actually better at the game i will stop being such a pus.sy..but till then 25 mmr a day is my trick...i have 70% winrate on sk so i only play him in ranked....i did learn alot not only about him but about the offlane in general...so i highly doubt cheesing my way to higher mmr will result in an mmr drop since i try to improve on the position not on the hero

Not the CM one Cookie released another guide under the account RIKI which basically explained, well... everything ( mechanics, last hitting etc.)

Gaining MMR is a function of net games won. Depending on whether your win rates is equal to, at, or greater than 50%, your MMR will decline, stay the same, or rise.
The key variables to gaining MMR are as follows:
1. Your win rate
2. The number of games you play/day
3. Your target MMR to gain
As an example, if your current MMR is 4K and the target is 5K MMR, and you play about 4 games on average/day and the win rate is about 55% of your games averaging about 25 MMR per win (and 45% of losses where you lose 25 MMR), you'd need = 1000/(4 X .1 X 25) = 100 days of dedicated game-play.
In other words, with a 55% win rate, every game your expected MMR gain is 2.5. If you play 4 games a day, you can expect to win 10 MMR/day on average. To close a 1000 MMR gap, you'd need to play at that rate for 100 days.
Days needed = MMR GAP/ ((Win rate - Loss Rate) X games/day X 25).
If you could bump up your win rate to 60%, you'd reduce the number of days needed from 100 to 50 (because you've essentially doubled your expected daily MMR gain from 2.5 to 5).
There's a cap on your win rate, because a % of your games will be beyond your control:
a. Bad team draft
b. Throw/tilt
c. Bad luck/Bad play
d. Disconnect
I'd say about 40% of games are like that where it's autoloss (2/5). That means you have a fair shot of winning around 60% or 3/5 games. If you're really good and truly deserve to be in a higher bracket (either due to skill or spamming some cheese shit), you can convert some of the 40% autoloss to wins as well, and end up with a >60% win rate.
