hes really strong in lane. p rush is less shitty and hes more durable at all stages of the game
He has no definite go-to build atm but he is a very flexible hero for either a safelane or mid pick.
Some go for the travels split-push build. Others go for the old classic diffu-manta. And majority choose to play it with agha but I'm sure in a couple of weeks that a pro player will abuse it and bring it to the pro scene. I'm betting it's either OG, EG or EE-sama.
He's not OP in any means since 1/4 of the hero pool counters him. Strong counters include Sven, Timber, Axe, Invoker, Magnus, BB and Tinker Aghs. Those are problems because they are currently popularity. Any hero with an aoe burst (eg qop, lina) has a decent chance mid-late game in killing him. He's a viable situational pick on most cases but near too far from being OP and spammable. Maybe a bit more base STR will propel him to have a better early game.
A dark horse item would be BKB. It's pretty good on him. He has strong damage but people choose not to put any defensive item except for manta. They choose to be beefy and tanky rather than build more dmg.
i dont think bb counters pl. hes aoe but its physical and pl hsa huge armor. pl can dispel goo and bb is useless without mana
dont think tinkers a good hero rn either but thats nitpicking
Earthshaker will always be the ultimate counter to illusion heroes and Meepo, no exception to PL, the reason why his Echo Slam's cast is instant is because it's a skill specifically for illusion heroes and you don't want them to Manta Dodge you
