follow the pro scene. I guess
Watch actual pubs of pro players (the most recent one's)
Try to imitate what they do and eventually understand why they do those stuffs?
Try to watch the latest guides on youtube or d2bowie's insights on his channel is also good.
its tough
u 100% have to be able to identify ur mistakes. some people can do it in game and some go over replays as well
from my ns scrub experience
watch few really high level games and then watch some games from a bit higher skill than your mmr (or the same) becaue the flow of the game might be different.
try to play only unranked with the same hero few times then with different heroes and play different roles
it took me around 30 games to get used to the deference
Not only do you need the ability to recognize your mistakes. You need the will change bad habits while in-game. There's not a lot of things that can be practiced offline. Playing on autopilot every game without trying to work on something is sure way to never escape your plateau

Hi everyone. I took a 8 month break for Dota, and have been playing for a month since returning.
I understand my skill will have declined, and it does show. Where I used to play mostly VHS, now I mostly play HS, and where I won around 45% of VHS, now I am only winning around 35%.
How do you improve as a player when you are blind to your own faults? Even before my break I felt like I had hit a plateau, and did not know how to progress further.
Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated as I want to improve and climb.
Cheers.
TL;DR: How to git gud
