Favorite Books
Ranger's Apprentice
- Fantasy/Adventure
- More for teens, but gives an interesting story of rangers (rangers = spies)
Harry Potter
- Fantasy/Magic
- Obvious reasons
^read/watched all of these (well, partly - i only read the 1st book of ranger's apprentice), FailFish
do u want me to suggest u smthng back?
book cant tell, but last one i read was metro 2033 (twas amazing)
movie, hmm im pretty sure whatever i write here chances are people already saw it, but lets say intouchables.
i read the metro series including fan books, they r pretty gut
by intouchables you mean the 1+1 one? afair, there were 2 films with this title.
The departed - All star cast, great mob movie.
Reservoir Dogs - Similar to above.
Taxi Driver - De niero in his younger days, old but great.
Pulp Fiction - Probably already seen it.
Night Crawler - Interesting movie, definitely worth the time.
Wolf of wall street - Also probably seen it.
Office Space - great comedy.
Interstellar - Also probably already seen.
Moon - Cool space movie.
2001 a space Odyssey - Great old school space movie.
Alien - You would have had to see this.
Sunshine - Another cool space movie.
Source Code - Great thriller / sci-fi
Hopefully there's something there you haven't watched.
i havent watched moon, sunshine (do u mean the 2007 one?), office space and (sadly) space odyssey
thanks for a bunch of good films!
as suggestion back, i would advice you to watch some films by Guy Ritchie or Martin McDonagh, you might like them
also, imo Nolan's memento and inception are more exciting to watch than interstellar, so if you liked it, you ll probably enjoy these two as well.
Moon is excellent man, and yes Sunshine (2007). Odyssey is one of the all time greats, so you gotta watch that, even though it is slightly aged by now. Office Space is something thats good to watch with he girlfriend or family cause its not overly vulgar, but still really funny. I really love my sci fi/space stuff so if youre into that I could probably recommend some more underground ones.
EDIT: thanks for recommendations, seen both of those - great movies. Will check out the directors.
yeah sunshine is 2007 one.
Read skill of Lure XD It's just funny and I read it recently. For Books, I am into Paulo and stuff similar to that so I don't think anyone will like that over here.
See Daredevil 2015 series, it's great.
@dominus
i like sci-fi, would be nice
@solace
havent read that book, gonna check it out
paulo is fine if you dont think of his fanbase which is awful :D. have u read Richard Bach btw? they are somehow similar.
i watched couple of daredevil series, but i kinda dislike series as a genre overall, and dont have that much time on top.
Well I couldn't bring myself to like inception. Whole movie is based upon a fact of dreams but they never went into details how he can go in dreams and stuff related to it. It's based on a concept but they aren't talking about that concept , though that's my personal opinion.
@Dominus: Is Moon kind of psychological? The man found a body and imagining stuff? Office space is great.
@triple: Havn't read his books. Jonathan seems interesting. gonna check it out .
@Solace: it definitely has psychological elements, but its a sci fi thriller at its core. Worth your time for sure if youre into that kind of film.
@Solace
i think inception is focused mostly on entertaining ppl rather than providing background, thats true
jonathan is probably the best choice among Bach's books
@ Triple
I Origins - Interesting movie, worth a watch.
Event Horizon - cult classic, divided opinion though.
Cube - Not a great movie by any stretch, but a decent scifi horror
The machinist - The skinniest Batman you will ever see.
The Prestige - Good magician movie
Another Earth - Not bad, but more drama-ish
Coherence - Bit of a mind fuck
Solaris - Decent enough imo
i heard some positive feedbacks about most of them, but watched only prestige and solaris
btw is solaris rly popular outside of CIS?
It's been a few years since I've seen a movie or even read a non-study book. But I still like to believe that it's just because I don't have anyone to talk about them with and my life is only mostly lost to video games.
Books? What's that? I haven't finished a single book xD It's just too boring for me. Reading is for gaylordz I'd rather smoke weed. 420
@Dominus: Just Complete Office space and loved it. Will watch moon tonight or tomorrow. Suggest more movie/Series if you can.
Thanks in advance.
GoT.. books i dont read much but im going to start reading a song of ice and fire series soon
@Triple: Ah ok, I get it now. Im not really sure tbh, but theres two Solaris movies, one is old school, the other one is a remake of sorts from like 2002. The newer one is popular all over afaik, but I could imagine the older one might be way more popular in USSR countries.
@Solace: Glad you liked Office Space. its really funny. I will list some more movies after a game or two of Dota :)
@dominus
i havent heard of the re-make tbh
tarkovsky's old solaris is a masterpiece of arthouse which u can find it in most best films lists, but thats the kind of film that critics or nerdy cinema fans watch; it's quite difficult and far from what i would call "entertaining"
@Triple , yeah thats kind of like Kubricks A clock Work Orange, and also 2001 A Space Odyssey, although I did find 2001 entertaining.
While i remember, Ex Machina is also really good. Would definitely recommend.
Must watch movies:
Goodfellas
Memento
Saving private Ryan
Seven
Scarface
Terminator 1 and 2 (two of the few action films I really like)
@Dominus : 2/3rd of Office Space is totally like what most IT guys feel like and how things actually happens.
Ex Machina ending is great.
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
A true masterpiece IMHO
A married woman has an affair with a man she truly loves. Sounds quite tasteless when put this way but i promise you it is worth it.
It's about the pressure society puts on us to live a certain way, and the results of pushing against that pressure has on a person.
Tolstoy captured emotions so beautifully. Almost every line seems relatable, giving the book a profound impact. His use of language is also brilliant. Reading it felt like listening to Beethoven to me.
Movie-wise i think Kingsman was the best movie in recent years. Excellent acting, quite thrilling and heaps of humour with the never ending action. The humour was on another level entirely.
i dont like the way tolstoy writes even tho i accept it as a masterpiece work of literature
kingsman was not such a joy for me, i expected more out of this fil. it was a bit too predictable and, well, stereotypical.
Assasination Classroom Manga. Jst give it a try mah friend ^_^ even 1 chaper will do.
I dont like reading manga, sry
ranobe is like the most anime thing i can read, manga is way 2 weaboo
ye know theres a book in our library that was sealed and cant be rent or seen??? They said it can summon demons??? It was reat as latin so idk d title??? but it so fckin weird tho/

My favorite book I've read is The name of the wind by Patrick Rothfuss, starts slow and weirdish but then becomes one of the most amazing books
Also the two books (so far) in the Stormlight Archives series by Brandon Sanderson are pretty damn good.
@your mom's boyfriend
thanks, so many stuff i dont even know
@krazy kat
read and watched these two, didnt like hyperion that much tbh. fight club is a masterpiece tho.
@tomia
watched, and i think its the only romantic film i liked.
@crudude
i read couple of other sanderson's books afair, but not this one (p. rothfuss neither), thanks.

Name 1 title that is your favourite one and provide a brief introduction to it (genre/main idea/why do u like it/etc.) Im currently looking to watch or read smthng new, so ill use some of ur suggestions.
Dont worry to point something non-mainstream or even weird, it would be even better.
Dont get me wrong, I dont want you to tell me about Citizen Kane cz it is commonly considered to be a masterpiece so it gotta be awesome and I should like it; I can use best movies/books lists myself. I want you to suggest something that you really enjoyed yourself (even if it is erotic manga, kek).
p.s. no yaoi pl0ix tho^
p.p.s. i got quite a huge background in this field, so i can suggest u back something that u might like basing on your favourite book/film choice, in case u want me to
