it makes a difference because a teacher cant make 80% of the class fail. so even if you dont understand shit for the whole term, you are still likely to pass if you study just slightly more than average.
its not about being "pointless" or w/e, its about the school deeming it necessary for you to take that lecture. and if you dont want to take that specific one, you can only choose between close alternatives.

guess ill go to lectures then, and mb skip if i believe it to be pointless after a week or 2, i got 2 of those lectures a week anyway, and ppps are uploaded online
our group tutors (some 3rd year students) gave us materials from their 1st year (courses, seminars, solved problems etc) and i have checked in parallel today in physics course what they gave us with what the prof was saying and its 100% the same stuff. at this point the only advatange of going to the actual course is to have the prof explain to you what the theory actually means, which i dont understand anyways so theres no point
