How does the top 50 player rankings for each hero work? in General Discussion

im sorry if this is a repost i did try to search for it before i posted.
ive noticed that some players in the top 50 hero ranks have fairly low kda/win rate.
is it mainly based off their ranked mmr? or something else?

    for example meepo, http://dotabuff.com/heroes/meepo/players

+1, want to know this too, especially Meepo top xD

        It takes into account your:

        1. MMR
        2. KDA
        3. GPM/XPM
        4. Winrate

Enjoy. High KDA and Winrate at low MMR is nothing impressive. I could force my MMR down to 3k and spam a hero that I can play at 4k levels and trash every game. Then drop my MMR down again and own scrubs.

        MMR most crucial factor.

Some dotabuff tards think it has to do with some DSR shit, but I don't believe that. No one knows and I don't think you are suppose to know cause then it would exploited. From looking at it, it seems you have to have atleast 30 games. My guess is a certain KDA with 30 games in very high bracket with atleast 60% winrate. But that's what I see from looking at it. Could be wrong.

Most of players there have 50> games played and some are with 50%> win rate (talking about Meepos top), that is the thing that frustrates me. And after all, if MMR is the most crucial factor, that means that if you are a player with high MMR and you have 30+ games on any hero you are most likely to get into top 50. Not saying it is wrong, but at least kind of strange

              It is not.

We're talking about the top 50 players of a hero here. It doesn't matter if a 4k player can go 80% winrate with 5.5 kda because it is extremely unlikely he/she will achieve that score among 6k players. Also, you don't automatically appear on the list just because you have a high MMR which is why we've seen 5k smurfs (for just one hero) hit top 20 on the leaderboards, ranking higher than 6k players.
