Same thing just happened to me, tryed with Steam Support (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8676-EFLX-7453&l=italian) and it dind't work as well.
I'll try that and tell you what I got!
EDIT: I just tried that and I confirm: It still doesn't fucking work!
Perhaps Steam is merely offline and experiencing technical problems at the moment.

Same thing happend to me!!! Idk what else could i do. Reinstall dota twice already,delete appcache steam folder, and reinstall steam too.

I install latest nvidia drivers, tried disconnecting antivirus. didnt work either
I dont have any more hypotesis for what could it be the problem. maybe we just need to wait till dota2 makes another update with this solution :/
It still dosen't work, i tried to reinstall it and steam too but the problem is not solved. And steam dosen't seem that want to do this other update of 2133kb. I'm going crazy.
It has just done the update, now it workd, finally!
btw guys, when steam doesn't work immediately... maybe you should not go about restarting and re-installing just about everything in your house that looks like a computer?
It happened to me once, and I just waited. Eventually the game registered I wasn't really in-game, and it was gone.

I just updated the Abaddon patch of the game and then I tried to launch it: It doesn't even proceed.
I reset Steam: Still the same problem
I verified the cache: Nothing
I reset my router: Still nothing
I reset my PC: FUCKING NOTHING!
I reinstalled Steam: STILL FUCKING NOTHING!
Here's a screen of the problem; you'll see that my profile says in-game DOTA2 while there is nothing on my taskbar. Is it only me or are there people with the same problem!?
