Very nice to see. Slark is going to do very well in competitive play with his extremely high mobility, powerful escape moves, and of course the free double heart regen allowing him to re-engage quickly.
Slark puts additional pressure on supports since gem is almost required to deal with him. And as Merlini mentions he does something else very valuable in competitive play that no other hero can do. He reveals the enemies vision.
I was glad to see slark , one of the heros I first started with and I do enjoy seeing the "oddball" choices and how people make them work.
He can act as a ward counterer, I think Icefraud should rework it, and not let it get disabled by wards, BECAUSE ITS DEEP SHIT
It is extremely useful knowing if the enemy has vision of you, however if you are planning to deward all the wards on the map though you are going to buy a gem, and then you do not require slark.
I think he's quite a strong hero who could be a situational pick, like weaver.
Weaver is a good comparison. Slark will fill the same spot in the same kind of lineup. But slark can also work in a more aggressive line-up with heroes like NS, BH, Sven etc and dive towers to kill people before support can arrive.
Slark is just for fun game and pub. It has no carry potential and many heroes are much more usefull as damage dealers. Nothing to add...
Well for early ganks pre-gem it does let you know if your position is safe to wait for them to get out of position. If your ulti(passive) is cancelled than you know you have to full speed move on them or go back to farming. Also can be used to scope out rosh vision, where dewarding would be seen by the opposing team.
