You clearly never played against a pushing trilane with undying in it. That shit ends game in less than 20mins. It's retarded.
He's still not that bad late game with blink + aghs. 25-40% damage amp to all damage types is really good (with blink it's much easier to get in the 40% range). Blademail on him also gets amplified in case they'll try to focus you down (he'll return more damage than he takes, just like how bloodrage used to work before the nerf).
Undying is incredibly powerful early game, but he's virtually dead weight in the late game. If you have a team that can take advantage of that, yes he might be close to op, but this meta is all about holding out for the late game...so...meh...you could probably get away with it, but the whole meta is going to be changing here soon :\
"You clearly never played against a pushing trilane with undying in it."
Lol, more than that to be honest. I actually can't remember the last time I played against Undying at all :D
Undying falls off hard. great early game, but cant farm for crap. Thats why pro Undying go Midas if late game lineup. Only way to have late items.
not even hiddenly broken. In a game with 0 counters to him (no phyisical damage nukes or aoe control that is physical) undying rips the enemy team to shreds, He can solo offlane, snowball and be effective late if played correctly. If not then he is like a shadow fiend with 0 souls
That is true of any hero TB. If you dont have any counters to any hero they can rip the other team apart.
undying has been always a great hero to play with and a shitty hero to play against. (max. 300 hp rage during laning phase) I think in normal/high skill games he can be abused for effective mmr grinding though.
The good thing is that most of the direct counters to tombstone (bristleback, axe, tidehunter) are played in offlane so they don't meet in lane.
Axe and Tide can deal with the zombies but can't actually take out a tombstone. BB is decent enough for both.
I wouldn't really run undying in a trilane as he excels at being on his own surviving and killing through clutch strength decays or heals under tombstone. He does well with levels and unless the idea is to keep snowballing your trilane around the map I would leave him mostly to himself.
Undying is great for dual offlane, with some kind of viper/necrophos/weaver/veno on his side.
Undying + Lich/Phoenix/QoP dual offlane is the stuff nightmares are made of
i actually had to play vs a lich UD lane as pl recently, it is indeed extremely cancer
decay amps lich nuke, lich slow ensures you stay under tomb, going on lich results in dying to UD
luckily for me the players executed awfully but it was still aggravating
Undying is not OP. He is just not too common so casuals are not aware how to play against him.

Note: Thoughts from a random super casual scrub.
I was just thinking. In this meta, Juggernaut, Troll, Axe, Sniper, Storm Spirit and other heroes he should theoretically have problems with because they can either:
a) Destroy the tombstone quickly and/or safely
b) Ignore it
c) Take advantage of it.
If they get a few items or just reach the mid/late game.
They are very popular, almost ubiquitous picks. Moreover, not only does the meta favors the lategame, but it's also not only easier to do in this meta, but he also falls off the longer the game goes on. So, in theory he shouldn't be doing too good and indeed, he's not picked often, but he still boasts almost a 54% overall winrate and a 55% in the VH skill bracket alone.
So, what's up? Does he crush the early game so hard, any prospect of mid to late game advantage gets irrelevant? Or is it just the scrub tier inflating his winrate?
Oh well, the next patch is supposedly coming soon, so I guess this doesn't matter too much, but still, we need more non whining threads! Don't you agree?
