I'm also going to consider changing lanes if I end up with a necrophos/night stalker dual lane, that was a brutal lane, I needed to spend 875 gold to just not lose all my health, and lose all my lane effectiveness every 4 minutes
300 in 70 min with Radiance is terrible as well. That's around 4 creeps per min, you should aim for 7+ as Spectre.
As flash farming heroes such as AM, TB and Naga you should aim for 10.
^radiance was my 4th/5th item (can't remember which), which I bought to help push the lanes faster because our team didn't have much creep clear. I understand that that's nowhere near great, but I find it near impossible to hit every creep in the lane when every laning situation is a 2vs2 situation. I think what I need to work on more is actually finding the farm, as opposed to "not getting the last hit"
It's all about your gameplay, watch some Arteezy Naga replays, I'm sure if you lane as Naga against a 5.5k Invoker you would get wrecked, 0 last hits and probably solo killed, but he manages to farm pretty much every lane creep and farms a lot in the jungle as well, usually gets 150+ creeps around 15 min and ends the game with 13+ creeps/min. It's a good way to learn how to farm (there are lots of POV arteezy videos on YouTube)
As good as yesterday was for me, today volvo decided that it's time to end the charade. I had 4 matches, won only one(which was an utter unfun stomp), and after that it just went downhill. I mean the people were blind, and yet they want wards, go 3v5 and suicide, like clowns.
Is this farm okay?
http://dotabuff.com/matches/794223811 Btw I had to mid medusa, and our ancients were warded for the first 15 minutes, so no stacking.
I might just start spamming luna and tide, they always seem to work
@Chronic
Usually it's not wise to ask "did I played good?" about obvious stomps. But if you want to hear criticism:
You had overextended that game. Seeing your GPM and the fact that your team had clear advantage, you could finish it at ~30 minutes mark.
Yes, Medusa is a great late-game hero, but if you managed to actually start to snowball - you can wipe teams as soon as you get your second big item. Especially against midas Void.
Item build is fine, but I don't like Manta there. Dusa is OP enough to work fine with quite a few suboptimal builds, but skipping Linken's in this particular game was a bad decision. Your enemy had quite a bunch of strong solo-target disables.
Your skill build is weird. Gotta praise you for picking Shield on level one, but Split Shot over Snake on level 5 is just wtf. Also it's more optimal to get at least two points in Split Shot before maxing out Shield.
you had vlads and necrobook 3 and you still couldnt take 2 towers.
all tier 1s don't have backdoor protection so you should be able to get them all. glyph is not an excuse because necro and shapeshift's cooldowns are far lower.
plus the spectre game you listed at the top of this page, the skill build is awful. it's not worth getting more than 1 point into dispersion pre 11 because you won't be tanky enough for 4% more damage reflected to have a noticable impact. you want to go 4-4-1-2 by 11 for maximum damage, and level dispersion last, because that's when you'll be farming your expensive tank items.
and please stop getting dispersion at 1. it's useless. it gives you 50 extra HP at level 1. you are more likely to survive a gank because you can run through terrain and move quicker because of dagger, and also slow down anyone chasing you.
andro i dont know what game you were watching but i took their mid t1, their top t1 and their top t2. considering i had to share a lane with a sniper who gave up fb mid then rotated to my lane to take farm, leaving underlevelled shadow fiend to deal with overlevelled pudge mid
hey, add me too. i need some motivation. 2649 atm. my highest was 2,9 and lowest 2,5
i find this tier impossible to win. played about 40 games at 4,5k-5k in a decent way, but i cant get out of here
I would suggest Terrorblade, not many people will go into your jungle at that level. Actually, most people think you're just afk (even in 3.6k). Tell your team to say "wtf terroblade afk" and splitpush when team fights. matrice and zenoth are good people to watch.
Well guys, best of luck to you all. As motivation I hit 5k today, I know that may seem like a long way away for you but it's doable, I went up like 500 points in 5 days more or less because I was knocked back a lot mid way through (from 4.8k -> 4.5k) so just remember, even if you lose, you can always bounce back.
It's not how many times you get knocked down, but how many you get back up :P
If you need any help or advice, I have time on my hands now so feel free to add me in game or talk here.
but seriously this one was close, if clinkz snowballed any harder we would have been boned, and the void was so mad the whole game, even though he randomed timbersaw and asked me to pick void for him to swap
going to lose another. i random void, and my team picks riki, drow, pudge nyx
had 1,9k gold in min 2, finished midas in min 8. now im just feeding alche.
"^Except doesnt the aura also affect creeps and therefore push waves?" that doesn't matter at this level. They just have to back for ganks, you can still farm fine no matter where the lane is. Actually pushing it might prevent other team from farming as much as they have to last hit under tower.
I'd much rather jungle doom though. Unless they pick zeus or bs mid or maybe slark or bounty no one is coming in your jungle. You can 6 min midas reliably, have bassy and phase boots and midas at like 10 mins and start pushing lanes with hellfire. In lane you can do better if you get every last hit but it's harder to do that.
you'd get refresher if your opponents can't already kill your illusions, and you already have radiance + diffusal 2, since refresher would offer so much more for damage than the 30 agi of butterfly, and heart does nothing for illusion damage assuming they can survive the full haunt duration even without a heart.
@Osiris, My friend who calibrated @ 1.7-1.8k (first month of dota) is now reaching 2.4k. He did this in like 2 weeks. Its easy to get 3k, its harder to go up :), gl.
^^ yes I know but heart gives you alot of dmg threw dispersion aswell as effective HP. Manta also uses diffusal dmg etc hence at what point is refresher a valid item choice (4th/5th?)
dispersion does not apply to illusions and if haunt is your main source of damage, which is most likely is if you're going refresher in the first place, then dispersion is irrelevant because your hero won't be taking damage.
refreshers order is dependent on the game's situation. you don't just say, I have items X, Y and Z so I'mg onna get a refresher now. there's 0 point getting it against 5 BKBs that are 10 seconds for example, or if the enemy can kill your illusions even with Heart + Bfly.
^^I think you misunderstand. Heart gives you dmg threw dispersion to your main and also when you have heart your illusions are much more tanky aka they wont be killed instantly. So effectivly I think heart might give you more dmg cuz illusions wont get killed instantly
My first time going as semi support zeus. My lane was so-so but after the slark took lvl 6, it became hell. A slark with bottle(which means mana regen for him) and that ult passive is a pain in the ass to deal with.
That and the fact the they had jugg(magic immunity) coupled with the infmous combo void+wd stopped my snowballing. So i resumed myself to a semi support role with atos and force staff. For the healing i used the bottle charges.
Still the doto gods were favouring my odds and doom managed to snowball and carry the game.
Taking stats at 8,9,10 was probably not good but stats early is fine because your crit is low chance and not a ton of dmg since your base dmg is not high yet, and the healing totem is also not as good early since it's % hp based. But to never get them the entire game is dumb. One or two stats early really helps your mana pool but don't do that shit all game.
I'd agree, previously I'd go Q > stats > Q > stats > Q > Ult, then max E then W, so the 2 points in stats is good, but holy crap i thought that skill build really took things too far
imo forgoing healing ward in the early game is pretty shitty. 1 point in the ward is way more useful than stats. it's % based but it's still an insane amount of regen regardless because enemies don't do high damage, so even a 1 point ward will outheal an enemy's damage, and it will do much more for survivability than 4 str will.
if you get a soul ring you can use spin often to zone enemies out, plus you can't get harassed out of lane with infinite healing ward, and defeats the argument that 2 points of stats by 6 gives you 312 mana to ult + spin, since soul ring can increase your max mana pool when used.
stats aren't bad, but not at the cost of skipping healing ward . if you get stats over skills then it should be to replace points in blade dance.
http://dotabuff.com/matches/609132801 this is what I'm going to set my goal as as spectre
I'm also going to consider changing lanes if I end up with a necrophos/night stalker dual lane, that was a brutal lane, I needed to spend 875 gold to just not lose all my health, and lose all my lane effectiveness every 4 minutes

lol. we still won. after i fed like 8 deaths niggas told me to go farm and we won fast
http://dotabuff.com/matches/795739298 finally into the positives!
this game could have probably been ended a lot earlier, but a few miscommunications on where we were pushing delayed us a tad
@epsik
lol that skill build at 5 was a misclick
Can I add you?
My calibrated MMR is 2250, my highest MMR achieved is 2950 and I'm currently sitting at 2650 MMR.
havoc can you tell me if/when refresher is legit on spectra? For example whould you get it ahead of butterfly etc?
The Road to 3k is long for those of us who calibrated at 1650 ^^ I may meet you guys in some games sometime :P

^while I'm not taking away anything from your victory, ROFL at that juggernaut skill build
yeah that dude was a tard, i played against him the match b4 this one and he randomed riki. He was wondering why he was dieing, when we had a gem lol.
The skill build actually isnt that rofl. Im not saying its good but early stats on jugger isnt bad
God so sick of jugg who doesnt focus on attack speed and ulti but build battlefury instead
If they play like that why do they not play ember instead.
cuz emberino spiritoso is not that swaggery

Haha i love this. The 2k to 3k struggle is real. I started back at 2800, started playing more, reading more and watching more videos...
Thats when i started losing more haha. I'm doing the same thing right now. Best of luck.
