core = heroes that conventionally should get farm (carry /mid /offlane tank) to have an impact. meta cores scale very well with items
support = heroes that conventionally does not need farm to have an impact on the game. just need levels

Was going through my hero pool and I realized that my Morphling has been played 100% in the Core role. I primarily played a Stun Gun Morph.
Carry, Semicarry, Tank, Jungle,
and Support is what this old timer knows. I still sometimes hit z for CM's ult...
