It is pretty ugly. Hoping someone will contribute a background when the layout is all finalized.

Wow, just realised how good your smurf is mirin.
Thanks to ميلانشي for the background to work with.
If anyone wants to add some extra backgrounds to pick from, hit me up.
Depends on the forum. This one does not have any signature space or BB code.
If you went to the dev.dota2.com
In your signature space you would enter something like:
Everyone loves comic sans. It was more to prompt someone into making a better background for it.
And someone has. When I get a clean copy from them, expect an update.
Signature updated to look cleaner etc.
Thanks to everyone that helped by sending me their thoughts on backgrounds and positioning.
The latest template has been pushed out. Your signatures will automatically update. They are cached for an hour, so you may need to wait up to an hour to see the change, if it has been viewed before the change hit.
Looking for new suggestions since the last update. 51 people have used the signature generator.
Improved caching again. Silly mistake made the previous caching ineffective on the server end.
And for the people interested, here are some stats:
@spook
Thanks. I preferably wanted mine about 100px less wide... but I ended up just rolling with the background someone generously donated.
It was trivial making the signature, but I just didn't get around to it for a long time.
I'll think about direct linking to the PNGs. It is easily possible, but the PNGs won't be updated. (Example: http://dota2.otakucop.com/sig/images/generated/28755155.png)
I haven't come across any forums yet that won't let me link to a non-picture.
Also, as a side note... your signatures don't appear to cache. I was lazy too, at the start, and after about 50k views... I noticed a significant performance hit to the loading times of sigs. How many people are using your signatures?
Here are my stats: http://i.imgur.com/nAldGHe.png
@rush
Did you change your steam picture or something? Signatures are cached for 2hours. There is a way to flush the cache for a specific user, but I don't want it abused. Perhaps the steam CDN was down for a little bit? Let me know if problem re-occurs.
I think I fixed the bug regarding steam avatars. Changes will take 2hours to propagate due to client browser caching.
Ah bug was actually more serious than I thought. I had done something similar when comparing times, such that signatures weren't ever going to update. Fixed now, and the steam icon will sort itself out.
Also added a check for bad account ids now. It would just not output a picture before. :)
my signatures renew the stats once every hour (with the first use, so if a signature is not used, it does not cache).
and total number of users so far is about 1500 people ever created a sig, but only about 500 got updated during the last hour.
and burning boards normally do not accept imageembeds that contain question marks.
implementing dynamic pngs is really simple with .htaccess file
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/mod/mod_rewrite.html (look at rewriterule)
not working for me: http://dota2.otakucop.com/sig/?aid=33822964
Am I doing something wrong? P.s I have turned the sharing on in Dota2
@scoots: http://dota2.otakucop.com/sig/?aid=67645929 ??
the number you use in your link is not valid: http://dotabuff.com/players/33822964
@Spookster I know how to do it (in so far as the ModRewrite goes), but haven't had any demand for it. I'll do it by this weekend though. Thanks for motivating it.
With regards to the stats, I'm about half as big as your sig is (a Russian forum seems to have embraced it =P). http://i.imgur.com/RDBe1vY.png
@Scoots Glad to see you sorted. For clarification, the "DotaBuff id" is the steam 32bit ID, which is the default format IDs are returned via the dota2 API. I should probably make the system a bit more robust to deal with 64bit IDs and vanity names. Alas, I will leave that till another day.
New domain!!!

Feel free to use it. No immediate switch over required, but the new one is so much easier to remember, so there is no reason not to use it from now on. ^_^
Thanks spookster for helping out with the regex required.
You can now link your signature like this:
lol, I see someone saw it then. It's a functional substitute until a few other dota projects are ready for pages too.
Sooner or later is the key. ;)
It works, and when I finish up one or two of my other dota projects, I can think about integrating them into the one site.
* Replay archive (http://getdotastats.com/replays/) -- until there is a way to automate this, I'm sporadically uploading and getting volunteers to help.
* Cosmetic item aggregation statistics (http://getdotastats.com/matches/) -- It's collecting data right now. I almost have enough data to start to make some kind of nice interface for it. It's about 90% optimised, meaning all of it loads fast, except for the lowest level page that has the specific item statistics.
Those are two of the major ones.

Pretty rough so far. Suggestions welcomed, and if someone wants to donate a tailored background, it would be welcomed and applied.
The aid is simply your user account ID, which you can get from your DotaBuff user profile URL.
EDIT: Hit me up on steam, as it is unlikely I will remember to check this thread regularly. (steamcommunity.com/id/jimmydorry)
EDIT2: You can now add MMR to your sig. I started a new thread about it here: http://dotabuff.com/topics/2014-02-10-interested-in-displaying-your-mmr-on-your-sig-getdotastats-dota2-sig-is-for-you
